—O—
Web, publish to – problems viewing
in other browsers such as Netscape, Mozilla, etc. – if you just do the standard “save
as web page” from PowerPoint, everything looks great in IE but really messed up
in other browsers. Need to fix a couple
things.
- The slide will not be
scaled to fit the Web browser window. It stays at a fixed screen
resolution based on the Screen size setting that you selected when you
published the presentation. From within PowerPoint before you do the “save
as web page” (actually, you can
do this later on in the “save as web page” as described in the step
below.), on the Tools menu,
click Options. Click Web Options on the General tab,
and then click the Pictures
tab. Adjust the Screen size setting as necessary.) The default might be 800
x 600. This default choice,
if you don’t change it, will be reflected when you open up in a non-IE
browser and your slides are squished way over to the right hand frame way
smaller than you like, you have a HUGE frame on the left for your table of
contents, and you can’t adjust these
frames!
- When you’re saving as
a web page, make sure you click on the “Publish…” button before you hit
“save”. This brings up a pop-up
menu that has a section in the middle called “Browser support”. Select “All browsers listed above
(creates larger files)”. If you
also click “Web options…” button, it’ll bring you into the area you adjusted
above where you can change screen resolution.
